John Deere might be a very reputed organization globally, but their Indian subsidary is horrible, run by ill educated people and dominated by internal politics. I worked with John Deere India Pvt Ltd(earlier known as John Deere Equipment Pvt Ltd) from April 2010 to January 2012. In those 22 months, I was frustrated to the core. First, they cheated me while recruiting. Although I was B. Tech+MBA, that too full time from IBS, Hyderabad and had 5 years of experience that time, they gave me a position which was executive level. My boss turned out to be a person, who did not have half of my education, a diploma holder, and only 1 year elder in age and 3 years elder in experience(understandably, as he studied less). I was shocked to find all the people at my level are diploma engineers!! Secondly, this company has the poorest TA/DA policy you can ever get in anywhere in the industry. No car hire, no flights, only 1600 Rs of food and hotel per day, 1200 Rs of mobile per month- I felt I have landed up in a dealership job!!
Thirdly, this company does not understand anything other than numbers. You get your family life screwed and company is least bothered. They want to multiply their numbers 2 times or 3 times every year, with the same manpower, negligible salary hike and ill treatment to field executives. Their global reputation has fooled quite a lot of people here in India, who after joining this company, ESPECIALLY SALES, were stunned to see the organizational culture here.
Avoid this company, even if they give you a good package. Because, in a particular grade, they have around 40% variation allowance(yes, can you believe 40%!!!, your colleague of same grade can get 40% more salary than you), which is absurd and the most bizarre concept I have ever seen in HR.
